Associate Pastor, Jim L Sharp, Jr., or as we call him, Brother Jimmy, was born in 1967, to James L Sharp, Sr. and Nancy Sharon Lowery Sharp. Brother Jimmy considers it a great honor to be named after his father. Brother Jimmy grew up in the Mascot area and graduated from Carter High School in 1985.
In 1987, he and his wife, Sister Dina Elaine Patty Sharp were married here at New Antioch. They have spent most of their 36 years of marriage serving, worshiping and ministering here at New Antioch.
Brother Jimmy and Sister Dina were blessed in 1988 with their first child, James Andrew Sharp, Andy. God richly blessed them in 1992 with their second child, their daughter, Kristen Elaine Sharp DeChaine. Andy and his wonderful wife, Rachel, have blessed us with two precious granddaughters Kaity and McKenzie. Kristen and her husband, Josh also have blessed our family with the addition of our beloved
grandson, Easton.
On March 7 of 1993, after many months of thoughtful prayer, Brother Jimmy accepted the call to preach. He was licensed a year later as he accepted the position as Youth Director at Crossroads Baptist Church.
In 1997, he was ordained to preach the gospel at Riverside Baptist church where he was elected youth pastor. Later, he was elected to be youth pastor at East Sunnyview Baptist Church.
In 1999, Brother Jimmy was elected to pastor at Tuckahoe Baptist Church. He with his wife by his side, served there until he was lead by God to returned back to New Antioch to take the role as Associate Pastor.
Brother Jimmy has stated that he is so honored and has been so blessed to serve along side so many great men of God. He is so excited for what the future holds at New Antioch Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Andy Lynn.
Brother Jimmy stands firm and truly believes in the vision and mission of New Antioch, “Knowing Jesus, and making Jesus known” are the keys to “Imperfect people risking it all to make Jesus real one life at a time”! “It is all about him”!
